Rikki A.M. Brown
Rikki is a passionate early career researcher who has been immersed in cancer research since 2010, with a long-standing interest in uncovering the molecular drivers of aggressive and poorly characterised cancers. She completed her PhD at the University of Western Australia in 2024, where she investigated the role of microRNA-7 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and strategies to overcome cisplatin resistance. This work laid the foundation for ongoing research aimed at translating microRNA-7 from a molecular discovery into a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of cancers with poor prognosis, including oral cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and ovarian cancer. Her research contributes to the rapidly evolving field of RNA-based therapeutics, and she is driven by a strong commitment to translating molecular discoveries into clinically meaningful advances.
