Sabrina J Fletcher
Dr. Sabrina Fletcher is a senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Turin, Italy, supported by the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowship. She completed her PhD at the IByME and the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina), where she investigated how adipose tissue within the tumor microenvironment supports breast cancer growth and metastasis.
She then moved to the Institut Pasteur (France) for her first postdoctoral position, shifting into antiviral immunity in insects. There, she identified a cell-surface protein responsible for dsRNA internalization, work published in Science Advances and leading to an international patent application (WO/2024/023578) with potential applications in agricultural pest control.
In her current research, Dr. Fletcher focuses on intratumor phenotypic heterogeneity in colorectal cancer using PDX-derived tumoroids and single-cell approaches. Her work has revealed distinct transcriptional subpopulations, including one associated with minimal residual disease under EGFR inhibition. She is now investigating dual-targeting strategies involving EGFR inhibition and this newly identified subpopulation, aiming to improve therapeutic responses and deepen our understanding of tumor dynamics.
